Scope of Work
All work is carried out based on the customer’s description of the fault and the vehicle’s condition at the time of inspection. Mobile diagnostics and repairs are limited compared to full workshop facilities.
Quotes & Estimates
Quotes and estimates are based on information provided by the customer and a visual or limited inspection. Where unforeseen issues arise, additional costs may apply and will be discussed with the customer prior to continuing work.
Authorisation of Work
The customer authorises the mechanic to carry out the agreed work and confirms approval of quoted costs prior to commencement. Authorisation may be provided verbally, via SMS, email, or other written communication.
Diagnosis & Pre-Existing Faults
Mechanical and electrical faults can be intermittent, hidden, or progressive. The mechanic is not responsible for pre-existing issues or additional faults discovered after work has commenced or been completed. Repairing or replacing one component does not guarantee the performance, condition, or lifespan of any other components. The mechanic is not responsible for a vehicle becoming immobilised due to pre-existing faults, worn components, or underlying issues identified during diagnosis or repair. No guarantee is given that a vehicle will remain operational where faults are complex, intermittent, or compounded.
Parts Supplied
New parts supplied are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty only. No warranty is provided on customer-supplied parts. Used or reconditioned parts (if supplied) carry no warranty unless stated otherwise in writing. Unless the customer specifically requests genuine/OEM parts in writing prior to authorisation, the mechanic may use aftermarket or OEM-equivalent parts deemed suitable for the repair. The customer acknowledges that aftermarket parts may vary in brand, performance, longevity, and warranty compared to genuine parts. The mechanic is not liable for any failure, wear, or performance issues attributable to the nature or manufacturer of aftermarket parts, beyond the warranty provided by the part supplier. Customers are entitled to request genuine parts prior to commencement of repair, however genuine parts may be higher in cost and have limited availability.
Parts Warranty
All parts supplied are covered by a 30-day parts warranty unless otherwise stated in writing. This warranty covers replacement or refund of the faulty part only. Labour is not included and will be charged for removal, replacement, or reinstallation, unless the fault is proven to be a result of the mechanic’s workmanship. If a supplied part fails due to a manufacturing defect and the original installation was carried out with due care and skill, the customer is responsible for labour costs associated with fitting the replacement part. This clause does not limit or exclude any rights the customer may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Test Driving & Vehicle Use
Where required for diagnosis or verification of repairs, the customer authorises the mechanic to operate and test drive the vehicle. The mechanic is not responsible for failures or faults that occur during reasonable testing where such failures are due to the vehicle’s condition or pre-existing issues.
Keys, Vehicle Access & Working Conditions
The customer must provide safe, legal, and reasonable access to the vehicle and a suitable working area. Delays or additional costs may apply where access, weather, safety, or environmental conditions prevent work from proceeding as planned. The customer must be present for both key handover (pick-up) and key return (drop-off). Where the customer is unable to be present, full payment must be made in advance or prior to the release of the vehicle keys. At the customer’s request, keys may be left at or returned to a pre-arranged and mutually agreed unattended location. The mechanic is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to keys or the vehicle once keys are left at, or returned to, an agreed unattended location.
Complaints & Rectification
Any concerns must be reported within 7 days of completion of the work. The mechanic must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, rectify the issue before any third-party repairs are arranged. Where the customer authorises repairs by another mechanic without first allowing inspection or rectification, the mechanic will not be responsible for any diagnosis, labour, or parts supplied, unless required by the Australian Consumer Law.
No Guarantee of Outcome
Due to the nature of mechanical repairs, no guarantee is given that a repair will permanently resolve all related, associated, or underlying issues.
Pre-Purchase Inspections
Pre-purchase inspections are non-invasive assessments of the vehicle’s condition at the date and time of inspection and include a road test where safe and legally permitted. The inspection reflects the observable condition of the vehicle at that time only. Inspections are limited to visual checks, operational checks, diagnostic scans (where applicable), and a road test. No dismantling or intrusive testing is performed. Road testing is limited in duration and conditions and may not reveal all faults, noises, vibrations, or performance issues. The mechanic is not responsible for defects, failures, or issues that arise after the inspection, including those not present, detectable, or apparent at the time. No guarantee is given regarding future reliability, mechanical condition, safety, or performance. A pre-purchase inspection is not a safety inspection, roadworthy certificate, pink slip (eSafety check), or blue slip, and does not guarantee compliance with NSW registration or roadworthiness requirements. A pre-purchase inspection is not advice on whether the vehicle should be purchased, and we accept no responsibility for the final purchase decision.
Liability
To the extent permitted by the Australian Consumer Law, the mechanic’s liability is limited to re-supplying the service or refunding the labour cost for the specific work performed. The mechanic is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage.
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Services are provided with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Call-Out Fee Disclaimer
Call-out and diagnostic fees apply regardless of whether repairs proceed or are successful.
Payment Terms
Payment is due upon completion of work unless otherwise agreed in writing. Unpaid invoices may incur late fees and/or debt recovery costs.
